Mega Man 7 (SNES)
Mega Man 7 (AKA Mega Man VII, ロックマン7 宿命の対決 Rokkuman Sebun Shukumei no Taiketsu in Japan) is a 2D side-scrolling action run & gun platformer developed and published by Capcom for the Super NES (SNES) console in 1995. It is the 7th game in Capcom’s Mega Man series and the first one to be presented on a 16-bit console. The game is the sequel to Mega Men 6 (NES).
Mega Man 7 has good graphics but needs further improvement. The bullets are still crappy just like Mega Man. In general, everything looks good but not impressive.
This game probably has one of the best plots among established games. Older game versions have great stories, but the story of Mega Man 7 is more interesting. Aside from Mega Man, the story tells more about the other characters such as Dr. Wily and Dr. Light.
It also has impressive controls. You can now use the left and right buttons to change Mega Man’s weapons instantly. The improved menu features more items that you can collect throughout the game. The Energy Tanks are here once again, and you should collect them with the W tanks that can replenish your weapon with energy. Aside from those two, you must collect another tank called the S tank that looks like the M tank in Mega Man 5.
The robotic enemies and other creatures in other Mega Man games typically have good sound effects and a background music. However, this game does not have something unique as it uses only the official Mega Man music. The remixed old tunes are bad. The creature sounds were standard and a few of them are noiseless.
Mega Man 7 also has the same gameplay with other games in the series. You should complete a sequence of side-scrolling stage levels that usually end in a fight with the Robot Master. If you win, you will get the Master Weapon that you can use to kill the Robot Master in the next level.
Pros & Cons
- A good, exciting game right from the beginning
- A new option that lets you buy items
- This game is better on SNES than on NES
- The game becomes more challenging as you level up
- Above average but not-so-impressive graphics
Mega Man 7 may not be the best, but it is a solid game for SNES. It has good graphics, music background, sound effects, and more things that can satisfy your cravings for action and challenge. Almost everyone think Mega Man X for the SNES is better.
Mega Man 7 game has been ported to SNES (this version) and Nintendo Virtual Console.
