Let\'s escape together

Rayman Games

While many modern gamers will recognise Rayman from his more recent outings in Rayman Origins and Legends, the story of this super-slick platforming series actually goes back much further. Rayman has jumped, punched, and explored his way across generations of different consoles and handles, while making the transition from 2D to 3D… and then back to 2D again. While the dimensions may have jumped all over the place, the one thing that has remained consistent are the games’ quality.

In order to do this, Rayman has to collects lums to regain his powers, explore intricate levels, and take down this menacing force. Rayman 2 earns its renowned status thanks in large part to its incredibly slick controls. Navigating these levels as Rayman feels like controlling and extension of your own thoughts. Going back in time a bit, Rayman Advance is a port of the original Rayman game from 1995. This game is a classic 2D platformer, more in line with the Rayman games from more recent times. Rayman Advance may cut some of the screen real estate to fit everything on the Gameboy Advance, but that doesn’t mean that the gorgeous sprites don’t pop any less. The gameplay remains a treat as well, with the overall difficulty being made slightly easier to compensate for the GBA’s restricted screen space. Overall, a great way to play this classic game that marked the beginning of the Rayman legacy.

Rayman 3 for the Gameboy Advance differs quite a bit from its console counterparts. For one the game is also a traditional 2D platformer, unlike the explorative 3D design of the Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Secondly, this port is tied more to the story of Rayman 2 than any other game, with the world, characters and narrative sharing a close resemblance. Despite all of this, the GBA version of Rayman 3 is still an insanely fun experience. It’s tight controls, memorable levels, and catchy music makes it a must-play for anyone who gets a kick out of Rayman’s classic 2D escapades.

As you can see, there are plenty of great games in the Rayman series that are just waiting to be experienced. From iconic 3D platformers to unforgettable 2D handheld entries, there is a Rayman game out there for everyone.
