NBA Games

NBA games, prior to 2K making them into unrecognizable grindy marathons masquerading as “Basketball Video Games”, used to be legitimately interesting, and multiple companies developing NBA games for various gaming consoles. This therefore encouraged competition between developers, which encouraged better-quality games on various systems like the Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo DS, etc. Various games include NBA Jam for the Arcades, EA Sports’ NBA Live 96, 97, and 98, and Akklaim’s NBA Jam for the SNES, and NBA Jam 2002 for the Game Boy Advance. This page is dedicated to the video games of the NBA that you can currently play on MyEmulator.

The Best NBA Games Online Free

The genre itself has seen many graphical upgrades from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to the Nintendo DS and beyond. In terms of Graphics and for making great Youtube content, the NBA games by 2k are your best bet. Here at MyEmulator, there’s a fair number of NBA games that you can play for free.

The list of games includes NBA Live 2000 for the Nintendo 64, NBA In the Zone ‘98,  SNES’s Bulls vs Blazers and the NBA Playoffs, Nintendo DS’s Backyard Basketball, SNES’s NBA Hang Time, N64’s NBA Jam 2000, the SNES trilogy of NBA Live 96, NBA Live 97, and NBA Live 98, Nintendo Entertainment System’s Tecmo NBA Basketball, NBA Jam 2002 for the Nintendo DS, and SNES’s NBA Jam

If you’re new to the genre of NBA games, any of these NBA games, except maybe Tecmo’s NES NBA Basketball, are a great start to getting you acclimated to the NBA video game scene. I say “except maybe” because the controls can be a little awkward to get used to for Tecmo’s NES NBA Basketball.NBA Hangtime, released in 1996 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Nintendo 64, is an underrated basketball game that brought “3D-esque” basketball to tv screens and video game owners across the world. There’s also NBA Showdown for the SNES and Sega Genesis.

Other NBA games not seen on here (as of yet) include Tecmo Super NBA Basketball, and Beam Software’s SNES NBA All-Star Challenge. There’s also Park Place Productions’ NES title Roundball: 2 on 2 Challenge. There’s also Super Slam Dunk for the SNES. Another such title is Ultimate Basketball for the NES. The Genesis got Lakers versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs in 1991. Arch RIvals came out for the NES and other platforms in 1980-circa 2002 depending on the console. There’s also All-Star Basketball for the NES in 1989. Konami released NBA Give ‘n Go in 1995. Also in 1995, the Genesis got NBA Action ’95.  In 1996, College Slam – a College-focused Basketball game – was released for the Super NES, or SNES in short.  Z-Axis released FOX Sports College Hoops ‘99 in 1998. Jobe Bryant, a LA Lakers Player, got his own Nintendo 64 game in the form of Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside for the N64, courtesy of Left Field Productions.

All in all, NBA games are pretty great and the ones playable on this site are all worth playing. Luckily, MyEmulator has saved you the trouble of tracking these games down. You can easily get your fill of NBA Live. Games like Backyard Basketball are just a click or two away. From there, just sit back, relax, and just play.

  • NBA Showdown is very interesting, and is playable on multiple systems.
  • NCAA Basketball was one of the first basketball games where you play as College Athletes, and man, do they have talent!
  • NBA Hoopz is a fantastic game, and is available on the GBC emulator, or Game Boy Color in short.
