The presentation has a fun and cartoonish feel, with the game characters having bigger heads than their bodies. Character faces look like the real actors from the film, which help make you dive into the Ghostbusters atmosphere better.

The game is also challenging as locations can be confusing and are maze-like in nature. Players are advised to make use of the map on the pause screen for easier navigation. Each level also has different themes. The last level, for instance, has a dark theme suited for the last boss.

You will start the game by choosing one of three famous characters: Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman, and Ray Stantz. Each of these characters has its own advantages and disadvantages suitable for different playstyles.

Ray is the easiest to play and is recommended for beginners. Although slow, Ray is the hardiest and can take the most damage. Egon is the fastest, but has the least vitality. And Peter is the most balanced among the three.

Ghostbusters for the Sega Genesis is very easy to master. You run, jump, shoot, and occasionally capture ghosts. It is really enjoyable how you could buy weapons and upgrades from the item shop as you go through levels. There are a lot of cool items and upgrades to choose from, but resources can be limited, so be sure to make wise decisions and choose those that could help you move on to the next level.

As seen in the movies, ghost capturing also happens in the game. Ghost capturing is a challenge as it consumes your resources if you’re not careful. There are even instances wherein ghosts leave the screen and escape without giving you the chance for capture which could be frustrating. You should probably focus on shooting down different ghosts using different kinds of guns, which is quite addicting in itself.

The game is simple and a bit short, having only six levels. Still, it could take a long time to finish depending on how much or how well you play. If you are up for the challenge, you could try the hard difficulty from the option menu. Overall, Ghostbusters is a very fun and challenging shooting game to play, suitable for all ages.

Ghostbusters game has only been ported to the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive).
