Final Fantasy 6 (SNES)
Final Fantasy 6 (AKA FF6, Final Fantasy VI or ファイナルファンタジーVI Fainaru Fantajī Shikkusu in Japan) is popularly known as Final Fantasy III when it was released in 1994 in the North American market. It is considered by many gamers as the best Final Fantasy game developed by Squaresoft for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). This is because the game has a compelling story and the plot can be influenced by the players’ game decisions through its interesting lead characters. We love it!
Final Fantasy VI is a role-playing game (RPG) set in an unnamed fictional world which can be navigated and explored using two kinds of maps—the overworld map and field maps (town/dungeon/woods). By exploring the maps, the player’s starting lead character gets to meet people, gain friends or allies, obtain objects or items, bump into enemies or monsters and combat them, and find passage to other places.
There are 14 playable characters in the story of Final Fantasy 6. The starting lead is named Terra Branford, who meets allies along the way as the story progresses. The main characters’ goal is to defeat Kefka Palazzo and Emperor Gestahi to overthrow the Empire that has been mind-controlling its people. The characters face enemies /monsters/demons along their journey. Battling and defeating enemies allow the characters to gain experience points and level-up; and the further they go and level-up, the stronger the enemies they get to fight.
When engaging in battle or combat in Final Fantasy 6, a battle screen appears which provide action options for each of the player’s characters. The actions are selected first before starting the round, and the next actions are set again before the next round. The battle screen disappears when the enemies or the lead characters are defeated in battle, or if any of the parties retreat.
The navigation and configuration options can be changed by accessing the menu screen. The characters can also be customized by using obtained relics on them or cure negative status by using healing items on them.
Final Fantasy 6 is a retro SNES video game, so it’s created in Mode 7 graphics which integrates a 3D perspective to 2D graphics.
Final Fantasy 6 has been ported to Super Nintendo (this version), Sony PlayStation, Game Boy Advance, Wii Virtual Console. Also, gamers take advantage of the use of game emulators to allow them to play their favorite SNES games on their PCs and laptops, and even play online. Are you ready?
