Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics (AKA Joe & Mac 3: Lost in the Tropics in Europe and Tatakae Genshijin 3: Shuyaku wa yappari Joe & Mac – ジョー アンド マック 戦え原始人3 主役はやっぱりJOE & MAC in Japan) is a 2D side-scrolling arcade platform video game developed and published by Data East for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1994. It is the sequel to Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja.
Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics has a much more interesting plot than the previous version. As usual, the story’s main characters are Joe and Mac who will do everything to get the tribe’s crown back. To accomplish this mission, you need to help them gain the 7 Rainbow Stones. That is where the fun begins.
The graphics of Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics are impressive and are a huge improvement from what was initially created for Joe and Mac. Each game level looks colorful and vibrant. The water, villains, trees, and other images look clearer and livelier. The main characters and the bosses look great as well. No one can deny that the game reveals the hidden power of this console.
The background music is decent despite the absence of the upbeat factor. Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics still has nice, cheerful tunes—not quite as memorable as others, however. In fact, each level of the game comes with a unique tune.
The gameplay is quite impressive for this old, overestimated video game. The controls are easy to use, but Joe and Mac move sluggishly sometimes. Slowdowns are too occasional, so they are not a big deal. The battle becomes more challenging as you level up, especially the one between you and the last boss.
Learning how the controls work is quick and easy because they are too basic. Just make Joe and Mac run, jump, and whack throughout the game and get the 7 Rainbow Stones to win.
Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics is one of the best adventure games you can play on SNES. You will surely love Joe and Mac and their adventure. The sound effects and background music add thrill to the whole game. Though this game is a sequel, its gameplay has a few original RPG elements that make it different from the game’s first version.
Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics game has only been ported to the Super NES.
