Dragon Ball Z: Super Gokūden: Totsugeki-Hen (AKA ドラゴンボールZ 超悟空伝 -突激編- Doragon Bōru Z Chō Gokū-den – Totsugeki-hen -, lit. “Dragon Ball Z: Super Legend of Goku -Chapter of Assault-“) is an action RPG video game developed by Bandai for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES / Super Famicom) in 1995. The game follows the events of the anime series and is sequel is Dragon Ball Z: Super Gokuden: Kakusei-Hen

This game was a big hit when it was released, and it’s still considered as one of the best today. If you’re into old DBZ games and you’re thinking of buying a copy of Dragon Ball Z: Super Gokūden: Totsugeki-Hen, then here are some points to consider.

First, the game has superb graphics. Despite being released in 1995, the game does extremely well with accurately portraying characters. The characters from Dragon Ball appear in the game as they should. Furthermore, the background and the setting of the game accurately recreate the visuals of the anime series. In terms of variance, there is very little change in scenery, as you are transported back to the same location often in the game.

In terms of the gameplay, you’re going to have to sit through a lot of dialogue reading. As it’s considered to be a continuation of the anime series, you will find the story to be one of the most important parts of this game. Fighting sequences, however, are fun and there really isn’t much challenge in mastering the controls. Battle sequences form a huge portion of the game, and they’re definitely engaging. Characters such as Kuririn, Tao Pai Pai, Tenshinhan, Jackie Chun, and every character Goku has faced are in the game, ready for a battle against you.

Finally, in terms of replayability, you may find it unamusing once you beat it. Beating the game will take about five to six hours. After that, you can opt to repeat the game and relive everything. However, there’s a huge chance you wouldn’t want to do that, given the game’s repetitiveness. If you, on the other hand, like to play the game again, you will have fun with the battles.

Overall, you wouldn’t feel bad playing Dragon Ball Z: Super Gokūden: Totsugeki-Hen. It’s an old but gold type of game, something you can still have fun playing with in spite of its flaws. A fan of Dragon Ball will appreciate this game as it closely follows the series, so if you’re a fan thinking of buying the game, then go ahead and do it.

Dragon Ball Z: Super Gokūden: Totsugeki-Hen game has only been ported to SNES.
