Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden 2 (SNES)
Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden 2 (AKA ドラゴンボールZ 超武闘伝2, Doragon Bōru Zetto Chō Butōden Tzū; “Dragon Ball Z: Super Fighting Story 2” in Japan) is a 2D 1vs1 fighting game developed by Bandai and released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993 and 1994. This game is the second installment of the Butōden saga.
Street Fighter 2 redefined the fighting game arena and Bandai had no plans of creating mere copies. After all, the battles in the TV series were fought in larger fields like the mountains, the skies, and even the seas. Bandai used a split screen mode wherein the characters can fight far apart from each other so they can do their special Ki moves. This approach was first seen in Super Butouden and was improved in this release.
Like its predecessor, you are able to kick, punch, and unleash special attacks unique only to the character you’ve chosen. Like the original Super Butoden, this iteration had solid controls. They were responsive and appropriately so since Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden 2 can be an exhilarating fighting game and there’s a part wherein your success is dependent on how many times you can smash a button during the allotted time.
The original game was famous for its big, well-defined characters, and infamous for the background. Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden 2 was a major improvement in those areas. Bandai developers and designers made the characters even bigger and included more lush backgrounds than the miserable ones that came with Super Butoden.
Soundtrack was also improved and had no more of those annoying kung-fu fighting sounds.
If you have played Super Butoden, this sequel will provide the much needed relief from the shortcomings of the previous game. It’s gorgeous, fun, and will keep you occupied for quite some time. Let’s play Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden 2 online and enjoy one of the best Goku games ever!
