Excitebike 64 (N64) – Free and unblocked game (NO ROM) to play online
Excitebike, the original, was a fun little racing game with a single available track with barely any variations and a high difficulty level, and an innovative level designer. For what it was, it was fun. Simple and fun. Excitebike 64 (AKA エキサイトバイク 64 Ekisaitobaiku Rokujūyon in Japan), the Nintendo 64 sequel, takes everything right with the original, multiplies it by 20, and does it all IN 3D!!!
Ahem, yes, memes aside, this game is an absolute gem in the N64 library. At the time it came out with some subpar 3d racers such as Jeremy McGrath, which made Excitebike 64 look fantastic in direct comparison. Even without these subpar contemporaries, this game still stands extremely well on its own two feet, or wheels as the case may be.
The player is taken through a tutorial to help them get a feel for the 17 tracks available, and from there they can take on the 20-track long Season mode in order to unlock more tracks, more modes and more features. In a sense, the Season mode is merely a feel for the rest that Excitebike 64 has to offer.
Before those though – the controls. They are tight, simple and to-the-point, which are basic requirements for a 3D game, more so for one that focuses on racing. This allows long, varied tricks in the air with relatively minimal input from the player.
And it’s these tricks that feature the cornerstone of the more than few of Excitebike 64’s other modes. In Stunt Hill, for example, your goal is to score as many points as possible by successfully pulling off stunts and tricks. You have a variety of stoppies and wheelies to perform, all giving you points and causing the audience to cheer for you.
At the time – and even today, to be honest – it’s a genuine feeling of accomplishment every time the audience claps for your awesome stunts. Assuming, of course, you don’t fail and crash as you land.

Yes, you can crash. Painfully. This gives additional incentive to master your stunts in order to gain more points and avoid these accidents. In Time Trial mode, crashing is a death sentence.
Another mode for Excitebike 64 is the hilarious Hill Climb, where you endeavor to play soccer with your motorcycle, as well as the randomly generated, endless Desert Track, where you aim to put out campfires around the map as you drive.
However, what is really impressive is Excitebike 64’s inclusion of its original Excitebike incarnation, and even a 3D version of that very same game’s original track, called Excite 3D. And it’s as hard as the original 2D version.
Still, Excitebike 64 is FUN. It is not easy at all, but it is extremely enjoyable to play thanks to the great controls, cool concept and catchy sounds in general. Back in the day, it came out late in the N64’s cycle, which resulted in it being shunned by some people. Nowadays though? No such issues. Give it a shot!
Excitebike 64 game has been ported to N64 (this version) and Nintendo Virtual Console.
