This game is about Pit, a Cherubim royal guard whose duty is to work together with other angels to protect the Queen. Medusa captured the queen and the other angels while Pit was the only Cherubim who managed to run away from the goblins of Medusa. Pit will try to rescue the victims and fix everything. The game has 4 worlds and 3 forms of levels for every world. Then, each world has several sections that feature a vertical-scrolling level, a side-scrolling level, and a dungeon in which you can find the boss.

The ambitious music complements the tone and setting of the game. The music is in a splendid march-style at first but changes into a more melodic and haunting tone for the spooky fortress. Everything else in the game is rounded out well with scary boss themes and lighthearted tunes.

The controls are easy to use. In general, the game has 3 visible difficulty spikes. The first one is World 1-3, in which the short life span of Pit and the countless damage zones become his greatest challenges. The next one is the World 2-3 (the ultimate of 3 horizontally-scrolling stages), which is remarkably long and demanding. The third one is the World 3-4, the biggest and most confusing of the maze-like citadels that features a squarely positioned couple of Eggplant Wizards.

Kid Icarus for the NES has many strange items and puzzling elements. In this game, a bow and arrow is the only weapon you have, but you can upgrade your weapons and armor.

Kid Icarus has challenging level outlines and a straightforward gameplay. The game is good in general. Why not give it a try to see if it suits your fancy?

Kid Icarus game has been ported to Family Computer Disk System, Nintendo Entertainment System (this version), Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 3DS.
