The Game Boy Advance has arguably brought players some of the best in handheld gaming experience with its extensive library of titles; some of them original, while others are ports or re-releases from other consoles such as PlayStation. Although from a graphics and control standpoint it cannot hold a candle to other consoles, what it lacks in hardware it makes up in creativity in transferring some of the players love on home consoles to a handheld version. Case in point is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

A game that has endured the test of time from one of the longest running franchises in gaming history, Final Fantasy Tactics provides a unique gaming experience wherein strategy and planning is key. Players get to create their army of soldiers with their hero, fully customize each character and go into battle in a chess-style matchup against the computer. On top of that, it provides a great story much like other of the franchise.

Although Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is actually a completely different game from the original, it was able to come into its own with great storytelling and unique characters.

The story revolves around Mache and his friends who are not having the best of time during their formative years. Until one day, they find a magical book which transports them into an entirely different world filled with magic. Although it is far from mundane, the group understands that they do not belong in this world and starts a quest to get back home.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance may seem to have a simplistic story on the surface but as things unfold, players are surprised with one plot twist after another which keeps them on their toes.

Overall, this is a great strategy game providing a lot of different options in terms of customizing players and a story that simply hooks people in. And, there’s even a multiplayer option that allows two players to battle it out on the field, further increasing the replay value.
